The Dental Wives Quilt

Four years goes too quickly when you're surrounded by great friends and fun times. We've laughed and cried together and have had lots and lots of babies while living in Pittsburgh. We all want to take a piece of that with us wherever we end up so this "Dental Wives Quilt" will be a little momentum of the friendships we've formed here. The quilt will have one strip of fabric from everyone participating, a little tiny piece of their personality and friendship.

Thanks to Nicole G's creativity we have a great plan for our quilt. This picture shows you the basic idea of the quilt is; different size strips with a couple of strips going perpendicular.

This outline shows you how our quilt will be pieced. The large perpendicular strip will be 10" tall and will be made with plain white fabric. Across that strip we will applique something like "Pittsburgh Dental Wives" in this font.

Here are the specifics for the rest of the fabric:
  • The final quilt size will be 56" x 80".
  • Everyone is to bring bright colored, cotton fabric, any print. E-mail Nicole with the fabric you choose and check back to see a log of what fabrics people are bringing.
  • Because there are different size strips, people will have to bring different amounts of fabric.
  • 5 people will bring 4 yards of fabric that will be cut into 7" strips (Elise, Nicole G, Carlee, Nicole J, Tiffany)
  • 3 people will bring 3 yards of fabric that will be cut into 5" strips (Rachael G, Lisa, Kimi)
  • 10 people to bring 2 yards of fabric that will be cut into 3" strips (Heather, Becky, Amber, Rachel Q, Jessica, Megan, Meredith, Marie, Helena)
  • Remember, if you're bring fabric for smaller strips you want to stick with a smaller print and visa versa.
